Great Taste, the world’s most coveted food awards, which celebrates the very best in food and drink, has announced the Great Taste stars of 2018. Out of over 12,600 products to be judged, Andertons Butchers was awarded a 1-star Great Taste award, which means judges dubbed it a food that delivers fantastic flavour and a 2-star Great Taste award, which means judges dubbed it above and beyond delicious for its Côte de boeuf and Florentine Steak respectively. The judges stated that the product, “Cuts like butter from the fillet edge, the fat looks well rendered, and the meat melts in the mouth”
Judged by over 500 of the most demanding palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers. As well as a badge of honour, the unmistakeable black and gold Great Taste label is a signpost to a wonderful tasting product, which has been discovered through hours and hours of blind-tasting by hundreds of judges.
Max Roberts, Sales and Marketing Manager, explains: This was our first year entering the Great Taste Awards, and our first year as part of the Guild of Fine Food. We joined the guild and entered the Great Taste Awards in order to get recognition for our fantastic Beef Products that we class as our “Ribble Reward” brand. The “Ribble Reward” Beef is the very best of what the North has to offer, and is available from our shop, online or from our catering site. We are absolutely delighted to walk away with 3 stars in total, two for our Florentine Steak (as seen in image above) and one for our Côte de boeuf (as seen in image below). In entering these products, we where showcase the best cuts from the best cattle and you are able to track the lifecycle of the products through our websites news feed. By winning such prestigious awards the credibility of our claim that we supply some of the best beef in the country comes to fruition, potentially opening doors to new customers, and ultimately increasing sales.
Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with no regard for branding and packaging. Whether it is vinegar, granola, bacon or cheese being judged, all products are removed from their wrapper, jar, box or bottle before being tasted. The judges then savour, confer and re-taste to decide which products are worthy of a 1-, 2- or 3-star award.
