If you’re planning on celebrating Burns Night this year, call into our shops to pick up your main course… Haggis!
Burns Night is an annual celebration of the Scottish National poet Robert Burns (1759-1796), his most well known poem being Auld Lang Syne, which is usually recited at a Burns supper, along with his Address To A Haggis poem. Celebrations take place on his birthday, 25th January which falls on a Monday this year, so we suggest everybody takes it easy on the Scotch!
Haggis is a tasty dish that has a nutty and rich flavour which can be put down to the main ingredients: minced sheep’s pluck (liver, heart & lungs), onion, suet and seasoning. Served up with mashed tatties (potatoes) and roasted neeps (turnips) the traditional Scottish dish is bursting with flavour and the perfect way to celebrate the Scottish icon.
