With Andertons Butchers being a member of the Guild of Fine Food, it would only be righteous that when entering the World Famous Great Taste competition that we put as much care and attention into creating the perfect product as we do throughout the year for our loyal customers.
To this end we will be showing you over the coming weeks the journey in which our cattle take “Farm to Fork” to bring you the best produce we possible can! For this journey we have selected one of our Prime Aberdeen Angus cattle to show you the journey and the process we take in order to, create truly outstanding, mouth-watering products.
The Great Taste competition starts in January where entrants must decide, what products they are going to enter, there are fourteen categories in total. Bread, Drinks, Fish, Pies and Puddings, just to name a few, needless to say that our category would indeed be Meat.
The entrants must choose which cuts of meat to enter, and after a short consultation process the whole family agreed to continue to establish our steaks as some of the best in the country based upon our success last year, when we won The Best Steak in the North West at the National BBQ Championship. So, with this in mind we went for two cuts of meat which are emerging in the market as bespoke steaks, inspired by our European neighbours in Italy and France and have therefore entered the Florentine Steak and the Côte de boeuf respectively.
As you may well be aware that, at Andertons our two favourite breeds of cattle are Aberdeen Angus and Herefordshire’s, and it felt only right to choose one of these fantastic breeds to pick the finest steaks from, and after much deliberation we selected the Angus.
So, with all the entry forms submitted it is was then time to choose the perfect beast. To this end we have chosen the beautiful specimen below, the story continues next week….
